Toad Lily

by Nakanée | Poetry

Alien fronds and

animal spots, delicate

orchid confounds.

Small deceiver–

peculiar psychedelic–

your kaleidoscope cannot

hide auroral charms

in twilight.

Your tardy bloom–

Autumnal debut–

makes it all the more beautiful

to see your prismatic petals

as they open

dainty hardiness to

the many faces of adversity.

Burlesque your

blues, purples, & pinks

against the golden equinox.

Exotic rebel,

revolutionize curious eyes–

don’t be a stranger in

an even stranger land.
